The basis for this study was indole-3-carbinol’s efficacy against laryngeal papillomas that are typically caused by HPV strains 6 and 11.  These are the same strains that cause genital warts; therefore, it may be hypothesized that the indole-3-carbinol would also be effective against genital warts.

The proposed mechanism of indole-3-carbinol resides in its ability to convert estradiol to 2-OH-estrone rather than the potentially carcinogenic 16a-OH-estrone.  It is believed that HPV alters the estrogen ratio toward 16a-OH-estrone.  The indole-3-carbinol reverses this trend.

Cervaplexx I3C™ (30 capsules is one month’s supply) is now available without a prescription in 400mg capsules.  It contains pure indole-3-carbinol, a natural substance found in cruciferous vegetables (400mg  = about 1/3 head of cabbage).  There is no noted toxicity.
